Stop!!… Calling Me a Trump Supporter!
My first blog post, hmm…..what to write about? Given the fact that this is a political blog, I guess it should be political. I’m a registered Independent, but the last few elections I’ve voted Republican. The last Democrat I voted for was Clinton, yes, Bill Clinton. Bush Sr. uttered the famous line, “read my lips, no new taxes” then signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. Which raised the income tax rate from 21% to 24%. This was the minimum tax rate; the max went from 28% to 31%. Tough to vote for a guy after that. I was young back then too, and social issues meant more to me than economic, now in my latter years I can see how backwards that was. Not saying that social issues are not important, because they are, just the weighted value of social issues against economic has flipped for me.
Let’s jump forward a good 30 years or so. Trump v. Harris, to me this is a no brainer. Every time I go grocery shopping, it’s a no brainer. Every time I fill up at the gas station, it’s a no brainer. With that being said, let me make this clear, I am not a Trump supporter. His sophomoric rhetoric, the name calling, and I just cannot watch him speak. He is an egomaniac, and his opponents say he just wants to be president to line his pockets. This is where they begin to go wrong, he’s got money, he’s a billionaire. He wants to be the best president ever, not because of an overwhelming sense of patriotism, but because he IS an egomaniac. In my opinion, at his age, he is thinking about his legacy. Lining his pockets will not achieve this ego driven goal, that would do the exact opposite.
He will achieve the status of greatest president ever (to some). He’ll bring down food and gas prices. He’ll close the boarder, again. He may even broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. This will feed that ginormous ego. It’s a win-win. For him and the American people. But to the people inflicted with TDS, he can do no right. Securing the border means he’s a racist. Bringing us back to energy independence (which only means that we will export more oil/lng than we import) and developing better nuclear technology…..HE’S KILLING THE PLANET! They compare him to Hitler and Mussolini, which is unsubstantiated by any history book. What they don’t understand is by doing what they say he does/is would defeat his purpose of becoming the greatest president and feeding that ego. So, which is it? Is he a horrible bad orange man driven by money and greed, or is he an egomaniac, you can’t have it both ways!!
So where did all this divisive behavior come from, you ask? What a good-looking question!
In my opinion, it came from four words uttered by Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2016 after she lost her bid to become the first female president, “he’s not my president”. Remember in the old cartoons when a little spec of snow started to roll downhill, it then grew bigger and bigger eventually chasing down its intended cartoon antagonist? Those four words were the spec of snow, and it was probably medium in size until it reached Nancy Pelosi’s tearing of Trump’s State of the Union Address speech, which sent that snowball into overdrive. Absorbing all the hate of his opponents and chasing down anyone who even looked in Trump’s direction. Now they would disagree with me, saying it was all Trump’s fault for the divided country. It is kind of his fault; he did get himself elected.
As I finish up, you are probably saying to yourself, this guy has got to be kidding. He’s a Trump supporter!! Since the republican party has no other option, and the democrat side is just a wolf in sheep’s clothing. {Psst; that was a little foreshadowing of my next post} It really makes me a Trump defender more than a supporter, there is a difference.
