Israel

I was polishing up a post on “woke” agendas and racism that I intended to be my next entry into this blog when the news of Hamas’ sneak attack on Israel broke. And while this might appear at first glance to be outside our focus on our internal social and political divisions, the reactions around this country prove otherwise.

We witnessed evil this week. Again. Most of the time we can ignore the evil that happens in the world – not that we should, but we do. It happens on another continent, another city, to other people. But sometimes, evil is thrown at us in such a way that we can’t not notice it. 9/11 was one of those times. This is another.

And we have people in this country rallying in support of this evil. Of this barbarism. Out of hatred for Israel.

I want to make it clear that I am not Israel’s biggest fan. Over the years Israel has existed they’ve done plenty of harm – they’ve done plenty of good, too, but let’s just say their hands aren’t exactly clean. I want the Palestinian people get an even break, to live in peace, prosperity, and freedom, something they haven’t always had from the government of Israel.

But…

Sneak rocket attacks against civilian targets is evil. Launching those attacks from schools and residential areas is evil. Executing concert-goers is evil. Targeting women and children for death is evil. Kidnapping hostages to use as human shields is evil. Rape is evil under any circumstances.

The statements issued from groups at certain American institutions of “higher learning” in support of this evil are reprehensible. The rallies in support of this barbarism are despicable.

You can hate Israel all you want, but you can do so without supporting terrorists and their barbaric acts.

The bottom line is that there is evil in this world, evil that will flourish if not confronted and stopped. I’m deeply saddened at the number of my fellow Americans who have been suckered into supporting the evil deeds of the past week.

More vegan than carnivore, but very much a Constitutional "originalist"; a walking, talking contradiction in terms, and a straight, no-holds-barred talker, who will tell it like it is with no apologies. Pacific Northwest native, married for many, many years to a woman he doesn't deserve, with no kids that will acknowledge them - except for the cat, who is merely tolerant.

  • 100% with you, John. Well said. I’ve nothing to add, other than relate. I’m dumbfounded by some of the rhetoric I’ve heard from my “enlightened” friends on the horrifying and unprovoked actions of Hamas.
