Show Me The Money!

I need some help, somebody to explain this to me. I know there are lots of people who believe the election was “stolen,” that there was massive voter fraud that got Biden elected, and they’ll never ever accept the results. They are outraged that none of the 50-some lawsuits that were filed got any traction, never got past the first checkpoint; every one of them got dismissed, even – especially – the “Hail Mary” the Texas AG filed in the Supreme Court.

There are media outlets who make the same claims, validate that view. And there are media outlets who insist the exact opposite is true.

But you know how I feel about the media: journalism died a long time ago…

We all know that the mainstream press has never been fair to Donald Trump. Granted, he deliberately fostered that antagonistic relationship; we want some degree of an adversarial relationship between the press and our elected officials to keep them honest, but Trump loves controversy and conflict so much that he turned up the heat at every opportunity. That doesn’t give the press the right to ignore the facts that are inconvenient to perpetuating the negative image of Donald Trump – but they did exactly that. When was the last time you heard about something positive that came out of the Trump Administration on ABC or CNN? Me, neither… But there has been quite a bit.

So depending entirely on which propaganda outlet you listen to, you have been regaled with stories either about President Trump’s feeble and desperate attempts to overturn the will of the people, or how voter fraud on a never-before-seen scale stole the election.

Where’s the truth?

I’m going to let you in on an open secret: I’m bilingual. In addition to American English, I speak Legalese. Comes from a misguided adulthood and a little education, not enough to actually become a lawyer, but enough to work for a few, to learn how lawyers think, and speak the language.

These lawsuits never had a chance. None of them, especially the SCOTUS suit. And they knew it all along.

In fact, boys and girls, you should be glad those lawsuits failed. Like it or not, it proves conclusively that our judicial system, for all its flaws, is actually working. The Rule of Law wins this round.

Look at it: Judges across the land – and across the political spectrum – threw all these lawsuits out as baseless, without merit. That means that every judge, no matter who appointed them, regardless of party affiliation, couldn’t find any basis to keep them alive. No legal cause of action. No standing. No reason to continue them. A waste of the Court’s time.

That means there was something terribly flawed in the basic legal argument brought in every State and Federal Court by the Trump team. Every one.

And every investigative agency, from the local police to the blatantly pro-Trump US Attorney General’s office, have stated that there is no evidence of voter fraud that could have influenced the outcome of this election.

The lawsuits never stood a chance. And if I, a non-lawyer, can see it, you know the lawyers who filed them knew it when they started drafting their pleadings.

For one thing, if you’re going to allege fraud, you need to write your Complaint to allege fraud. A Trump lawyer stood before a judge not long ago and refused to allege fraud, completely invalidating the lawsuit he was arguing in favor of. And if what I hear is true, this happened in more than one courtroom… SMH…

And at each point the lawyers should have been presenting some kind of evidence? Crickets…

They didn’t have anything they could show the courts. Not once. And the clowns they had sent out to argue their case in public didn’t help, either. Most of them were complete Loony Toons…

And then the Texas AG, who had no legal standing to sue in the first place, filed suit in the US Supreme Court alleging “undetectable” fraud – that the states being sued had so manipulated things as to render the fraud committed undetectable… There’s an oxymoron at work in there somewhere… Had the SCOTUS not spiked it, I would have started believing those who were talking about the Court being stacked… Yes, all of Trump’s controversial appointees voted with the majority on that, too. In fact, except for two technicality-based opinions, it was unanimous (Justices Thomas and Alito think ANY suit brought by one state against another should be heard – but they also said they’d have ruled against this one).

Now, tell me, honestly, if even the most partisan judges couldn’t find anything to keep one of these lawsuits alive, if even the experts in the Trump Administration say there’s no evidence, anywhere, of the voter fraud that Trump continues to Tweet about, how am I supposed to believe the election was stolen?

If there was such massive voter fraud that the will of the people was actually subverted – somebody, please, show me something. Proof. Evidence. Something, anything, tangible…

Show me the money.

Edit: I know, the Russians hacked into multiple government agencies months ago – there’s still no evidence votes were changed; votes are counted by state and/or county authorities, not by a Federal database, often by hand, and local experts and law enforcement say no such tampering took place.

And it has come to light that the Hunter Biden investigation was a real thing after all; too bad the attempt to leak it got so screwed up; I can’t fathom why Rudi and his landscaping-company press conference (next to an adult novelty store) wasn’t taken seriously…

And yes, I’m aware of the video of the Trump lawyer’s somewhat impassioned testimony to the Senate panel about rampant election fraud in Nevada; I’ve even watched it (here’s the most recent link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR04nrEo1jBtUsxE2WJSFAKImOoHDnxUYyyG6B1vaxqlqcZrsA-rT5bqwSo&v=yrwLs9hzxy8&feature=youtu.be). His numbers are impressive – his methodology is not; even though I’m not a statistician or anything, I know from past experience, past investigations (from back in the day the press employed journalists), that there is at least one fatal flaw in the way they collected their data (it’s in the lists they used, I think – this has been done before). And although he might believe wholeheartedly that his numbers are accurate, the Nevada Secretary of State – a Republican, which should give you something to ponder – doesn’t, and has Certified the election results.

Don’t misunderstand me. I’m sorry to see Joe Biden is the President-Elect. It does not bode well for us domestically, or internationally – and the Harris Presidency soon to follow will be even worse. However, I’m not sorry to see Trump exit the White House. Not because he didn’t do some good – he did – but because of his contribution to the malaise that has enveloped this country since before his election.

But that’s another subject entirely.
